BOSTON (CBS) – A Boston police officer is recovering after he was dragged by a car in Dorchester Sunday.
It happened just before noon when officers pulled over a driver on Columbia Road who was suspected of having just made a drug deal.
Police say the driver “gunned his engine and sped off” dragging the officer down the street.
Officers later arrested 46-year-old Eric Nelson of Weymouth. He’s charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, failure to submit to a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of heroin.
The officer was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was treated for what’s described as “non-life threatening injuries.”
His name has not been released.
