Happy New Year...

We are set up to receive an arctic blast for the first few days fo the new year.  Tomorrow, an Arctic front will slice through in the afternoon...sun will give way to building clouds and a few flurries then gusty NW winds will pick up and early afternoon highs in the early afternoon will roll back into the 20s by the end of the day.  The coldest part of this stretch will be felt early Thursday morning when fresh snowcover and more ideal radiational cooling conditions drop temps into the single digits...by far the coldest morning of the season!  The entire day will be filled with sunshine but due in part to the cold start, temps will only rebound to the 20s making it the coldest day since last January!

The cold blast will be short-lived as the pattern will moderate and temps will be above normal for several days through the weekend into early next week.  Highs Friday through Sunday will end up close to 40 degrees but another surge of warmth early next week should bump temps well into the 40s and it isn't out of the question that some taste 50!
