The Patriots fell to third place in the AFC after a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15 and as of now the Pats will not be getting a first round bye in the playoffs.

Bert Breer of the NFL Network spoke with 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher & Rich about the Patriots not having a bye, how the Pats could still get a bye and thoughts on who could be the MVP this season.

How much does not having a bye in the first round hurt this Patriots team?

“First, you lose the week off, but it also means there’s the prospect of having to go on the road twice. If you at least get one of the byes that means you’re only going to have to go on the road once to get to the Super Bowl.”

The Pats can still get a bye week if they win the last two game and the Texans lose both of their last two games or the Broncos lose one of their last two. Which scenario seems more likely to Breer?

“I’d probably say the Texans are more likely to lose two then the Broncos are to lose one.”

Plus, how does Breer see the voting for MVP going?
