Another Juror Dismissed In Mattapan Murders Trial
BOSTON (CBS) - Another juror in the Mattapan murders trial has been replaced by an alternate juror.
The Suffolk County DA's office said the juror had a family member critically ill in another state and the juror did not believe he could focus on the trial.
Deliberations will start once again with the new juror in place.
This is the second juror to be dismissed this week. On Monday, another juror was thrown off the jury for doing outside research into ballistics evidence.
The jury in the retrial of a Boston man charged with fatally shooting four people and leaving a fifth paralyzed during a drug-related robbery was set to restart deliberations Thursday.
Dwayne Moore is charged with killing three adults and a toddler in the city's Mattapan neighborhood in September 2010. His first trial ended in a hung jury. A co-defendant was acquitted.
Moore's lawyer says the prosecution's star witness is a liar.
The prosecutor said the testimony of more than 40 witnesses proves Moore's guilt.
The jurors are from Worcester County because the defense said publicity made it hard to get an impartial Boston jury.
