PEABODY (CBS) – A Peabody police officer pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of indecent assault and battery on a child.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Bernice Corpuz Reports reports
Officer Fred Wojick, 48, was arrested Thursday evening by State Police detectives.
The Essex District Attorney’s Office said Wojick had inappropriate and indecent contact for years with a young relative who’s now 17-years old.
He was arraigned Friday morning in Peabody District Court.
Wojick’s attorney said the allegations are false and that the realtive was angry because the officer disapproved of her boyfriend.
Wojick is charged with six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and one count of dissemination of obscene matter to a minor.
He was ordered to stay away from his wife and the young relative before he was released on a promise to return to court for his next hearing in January.
