BOSTON (CBS) – Don’t call it a mall or a plaza, because the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center is getting a new name.
The shopping mall has been renamed “The Street,” WS Development announced Wednesday.
The name change is part of the center’s redevelopment and developers say the new center will be more walkable and pedestrian friendly.
WS Development says The Street will look like a town center, complete with tree-shaded pedestrian walkways, outdoor dining, cafes and new buildings with glass facades overlooking Hammond Pond.
Storefronts will open to both south facing Route 9 and north facing Hammond Pond.
