Michael Rivard, 48, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide - negligent driving, driving while impeded and driving after his license was revoked. He was arraigned Monday afternoon in Quincy District Court and held on $10,000 cash bail.

Rivard has a long record of driving violations dating back to 1990, including several accidents where he was found at fault, speeding, and driving with suspended and revoked licenses.

It happened on Wall Street, shortly after 7 a.m.

Police say a mother identified as Beatrice Rivard, and her adult son were walking when the Lincoln Town Car driven by her husband Michael Rivard, ran up onto the sidewalk, struck them and then crashed into a fence.

Beatrice Rivard died after being trapped under the car.

The son was taken to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office.

There's no word yet on what caused the crash.
