Anonymous Jets Take Verbal Shots At Tim Tebow, Call Quarterback 'Terrible'

BOSTON (CBS) -- The much-ballyhooed New York Jets, despite an offseason of hype and media attention, are 3-6, sitting in a tie for last place in the AFC East and three games out of a wild-card spot with just seven games remaining.

At this trying point of the season, the Jets could still rally together, go on a 6-1 run to end the season and make a push for the playoffs. They could do that. Instead, they're anonymously ripping their backup quarterback.

Several Jets players and members of the organization talked to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News about Tim Tebow. Despite many radio and TV hosts pining for the Jets to bench Mark Sanchez in favor of Tebow, the message from the locker room was pretty clear regarding Tebow.

"We can't win running that [expletive]," one player told Mehta regarding Tebow's offense.

"He's terrible," a defensive starter said.

"Hell, no!" a starting player said when asked if a switch to Tebow as the starter could turn the season around. "You got to keep defenses honest. You just can't line up in the Wildcat all the time. That won't work."

Just in case it wasn't clear, Mehta asked one player how many players on the team think Tebow should be the starter. The answer: "Nobody."
