Hingham Police Investigate Suspicious Incident Near School Bus Stop

HINGHAM (CBS)- Police in Hingham are hoping for help clearing up the facts around a suspicious incident that took place near a school bus stop Friday morning.

Officers say a man offered an 8-year-old boy a ride to school near Bradley Park and Harbor View Drives around 7:30 a.m.

The driver was described as a white man, mid-twenties, with blackish-brownish short hair, wearing a gray shirt.

The boy described the vehicle as a white or yellow, "older" model, similar to a van but shorter, possibly a station wagon type. It had three windows on the side and drivers side damage on the lower panel between the two tires.

The child did not recognize the man or the vehicle. Police say the man drove away when the child declined a ride.

Police stressed that the driver is not in any trouble. They say he could very well live in the Bradley Park neighborhood, may know the boy, and did not intend to cause any alarm.

They are trying to track him down in order to hopefully clear the incident of any criminal intent.
