Video: Londoners Never Heard Of Tom Brady

BOSTON (CBS) – The New England Patriots are making their quest across the Atlantic for Sunday’s match-up with the St. Louis Rams at Wembley Stadium in London, but will there be many Pats fans at the game?

Actually, forget about fans for an individual team, are there even any football fans across the pond?

WBZ-TV’s Steve Burton roamed the streets of London to find out, and what he found is they aren’t too impressed with the game itself overseas.

“You only kick it once every 20 minutes, how is it called football?” one fan asked him.

“It’s basically just catch; glorified catch,” said another.

Fans over there fancy soccer and rugby, what they call “men’s games.” Only a couple in the group, who Burton found outside of The Audley pub located in Westminster, knew who Tom Brady was, although they were much more familiar with his wife, Giselle Bundchen.

“Everybody knows Giselle,” one male fan said with a smile.

When Burton brought up New England head coach Bill Belichick, one pub patron refered to him as “the cheat.”

But despite their limited knowledge, or fancy, for the game of football, the pub patrons did say they planned on watching the game on Sunday afternoon.

“I’ll watch it,” one fan said, before adding, “are you going to give us tickets?”

Unfortunately, Burton did not.

As for who they are rooting for, the answer was simple despite not knowing all that much about the two teams.

“The Patriots, all day. They have ‘England’ in their name,” one joked.
