One Dead, Several Injured After Police Chase, 8-Car Pile-Up In Brockton

BROCKTON (CBS) - A woman was killed when a car involved in a police chase slammed head-on into her carin Brockton Friday evening.

The driver who caused the crash, which involved a total of eight cars, is identified by police as Antwoin Moore, 27, of Brockton.

He was being pursued by Brockton police after they attempted to pull him over.

After striking a police cruiser, police say he sped through several intersections before striking a vehicle at the corner of Centre and Quincy street. The driver of that vehicle has been identified Maryanne Kotsiopoulos, 49, of Brockton. Witnesses say Moore fled from his vehicle, but was arrested a short distance away.

"A police chase was coming from Crescent Street - they were flying up the street," witness David Sallinger said. "Once one car hit, three of them just collided."

The scene got worse from there as eight cars were eventually involved.

Several drivers were taken to Brockton and Caritas Good Samaritan Hospitals. Kotsiopoulos was pronounced dead at Brockton Hospital shortly after 5 p.m.

Police say Moore has been charged with manslaughter, assault with a dangerous weapon, operating to endanger, and other motor vehicle violations
