NORTH CONWAY, N.H. (CBS) – Snow on the first day of October?
It’s not unusual on Mount Washington in New Hampshire.
The summit was blanketed with nearly an inch Monday, which was enough for the meteorologists there to build a tiny snowman.
They also shared some photos on their Facebook page.
“We measured just under an inch of snow/sleet in our precipitation can this morning, and it’s still coming down… for now,” the observatory wrote.

“It’ll probably all be gone by later today, so why not have some fun with it while it’s here? This little guy may not look impressive, but then again, not many snowmen can say they’ve sat on top of the Mount Washington summit sign at 6,288 feet on October 1!”
On Tuesday, the snow had cleared and temperatures were in the low 40′s.
Mount Washington is the highest peak in the northeastern United States.
