BROCKTON (CBS) – A 2 ton, 20-foot statue of boxing legend Rocky Marciano was unveiled in Brockton on Sunday.

Marciano, originally from Brockton, was the heavyweight champion of the world from September 23, 1952 to April 27, 1956 and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
The statue is believed to be the world’s largest statue of an athlete, and will stand near the entrance of Brockton High School and the 5,000-seat Marciano Stadium where the school plays football.
