Sea turtle rescued on Cape Cod (Photo credit: Mass Audubon)
HARWICHPORT (CBS) – A giant turtle that was rescued off the tip of Cape Cod was released back into the wild on Saturday.
The 655-pound leather-back turtle was near death and stranded when it was spotted near Truro last week.
New England Aquarium workers took the turtle to Quincy where it was nursed back to health.
Crews released the reptile a few miles off Harwichport Saturday night. The turtle was fitted with a tracking tag so its progress can be followed.
