Patriots safety Patrick Chung admitted that playing with “swag” isn’t the most important thing a defense can do.
Still, when talking with Toucher & Rich on Tuesday morning, he admitted it doesn’t hurt to have some.
“Players want to have fun. We want to have fun, we want to win, we want to compete. There’s a little swag in there definitely,” Chung said of the defense, which ranks second in the NFL in yards allowed and fourth in points allowed.
“There’s a little swag in there, but swag means nothing, man,” Chung added. “It’s all about execution and playing hard and adding a little swagger to it so it looks good.”
Part of that defense, of course, is rookie defensive end Chandler Jones, who’s looked mighty impressive in his first two games as a pro. In typical Belichickian fashion, though, Chung complimented Jones without going overboard with praise.
“He’s good. He’s very good. He’s a young guy out there, loves to have fun, loves his little dances and stuff,” Chung said of Jones. “He’s definitely good, man. I’m very excited to see what he’s going to do this season.”
