BOSTON (CBS) – Massachusetts is going car-free this week, or at least that’s what officials are hoping for.
As part of Car-Free Week, state leaders are encouraging people to leave their cars at home.
People are being encouraged to bike, car-pool or use public transportation this week.
The state is offering restaurant coupons, retailer discounts, tickets to shows and attractions, and other incentives through the Department of Transportation’s reward programs.
More than 1,000 cities in 40 countries are taking part in efforts this week to try and reduce the number of cars on the road.
