Aly Raisman Hurts Knees During Gymnastics Exhibition In California

BOSTON (CBS) - Olympic gold-medal winning gymnast Aly Raisman of Needham was injured while performing during the Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions in Ontario, California Sunday.

In video posted on YouTube, Raisman is seen falling to her stomach during a routine on the uneven bars.

USA Gymnastics said Monday that Raisman ended up with bruised knees.

She was able to walk out of the arena unassisted, but did not return for the show's finale.

"She will follow an icing and additional treatment regimen with continued assessment by the medical staff, but does not require any further testing at this time," USA Gymnastics said in a statement.

Aly sent out a message on Twitter saying, "THANK YOU so much for all the kind words & support. I'm so thankful that I am OK, just some bruising on my knees and the rest of my legs!"

Her accident happened just minutes after her teammate McKayla Maroney was injured during her dismount on the same bars.  She had to be carried off the matt.

"Maroney is undergoing medical evaluations and tests today to determine the extent of her injury to her left knee. A further update will be provided once Maroney's injury is diagnosed and confirmed," USA Gymnastics said.

Both girls traveled on with the tour to San Diego.

The tour comes to the TD Garden in Boston November 11.
