MALDEN (CBS) – An elderly man was rescued after he accidentally drove his car into a Malden pool Tuesday afternoon.
The 85-year-old man apparently put his car into reverse instead of drive, and crashed through a fence and then into his neighbor’s backyard pool.
Tom Cheffro ran outside and rescued the man.
“I got halfway into the water, tried to open the door, it wouldn’t open,” says Cheffro. “I had to push the window down a teeny bit more. I undid his belt, I reached in and pulled him up.”
The 85-year-old man lives in back of Cheffro’s home.
Cheffro says the man was joking with emergency workers before he was taken to hospital. His condition is unknown.
