BOSTON (CBS) – Needham’s Aly Raisman isn’t wearing her Olympic medals as much these days and she has good reason.
One of them is slightly damaged.
In an interview with WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Joe Mathieu for his monthly show, NewsWatch, Raisman said she had a minor incident recently.

“I’ve been keeping them home a lot,” she told Mathieu.
“They’re so heavy and I don’t want to lose them and I’ve already dropped one of them so there’s a little dent in them.”
Raisman earned two golds and a bronze in gymnastics at the London Olympics.
Now one of those golds has a dent.
“It gives it a little bit of character,” she added.
Raisman said the medals are definitely the nicest accessory she’s ever had.
She and her teammates wore them quite a bit on their recent tour of New York City, but it’s been an adjustment having them on because they’re a lot bigger than she expected.
“They’re really, really big. So even if I breathe it just moves and clinks together.”
Raisman said the medals will likely end up in a safe deposit box.
And what about those reports that she and other U.S. Olympic medalists will likely have to pay at least some taxes on their medals?
Raisman told Mathieu she doesn’t care.
“No, I’m just happy I have my medals.”
