MALDEN, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are investigating an early-morning shooting that left a 28-year-old man with life-threatening injuries in Malden.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s office says the shooting that occurred at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday does not appear to be a random attack. No one has been arrested.

Prosecutors say Malden police officers responding to reports of shots fired in the area of Cross and Ferry streets found the man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment. Authorities did not immediately release his name.

State police officers assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office and Malden police are investigating the shooting.
