Witnesses say about nine shots were fired from an alley outside her home at 33 Brook Street at about 4 a.m.

The girl was awake in her bedroom trying to get her infant brother to go to sleep when her collarbone was grazed.

She was treated at a hospital and released.

There have been no arrests.

"It's just so senseless and stupid," Police Chief John Romero told WBZ-TV.

"You spray a house and you don't know where those bullets are going to go and in this case here, struck a young child."

Romero said the shooter may have had an issue with people on the second floor after a run-in earlier in the night.

At least four bullet holes were visible in the side of the lower floors of the triple decker.
