GOFFSTOWN, N.H. (CBS) – Kevin Youkilis might not play for the Red Sox any more, but he’s still helping kids in New England.
A lightning strike destroyed a storage shed at Allard Park in Goffstown Saturday evening, and thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment that belonged to the Goffstown Babe Ruth League was ruined.
Youkilis’ non-profit group “Youk’s Kids” said Monday it will donate up to $20,000 to replace all of the equipment that was lost.
“As a child, baseball was a large part of my life. Organizations like Goffstown Babe Ruth are an integral part of the town. They offer so many opportunities for kids to learn the skills of both baseball and teamwork, something that will stay with them throughout their lives,” Youkilis said in a statement.
“I’m thrilled that Youk’s Kids has the ability to help out the Goffstown Babe Ruth League after the fire.”
