Boston Mayor Tom Menino
BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Mayor Tom Menino will undergo surgery at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday to repair drooping eyelids.
The condition, which is believed to be age-related, has obscured his vision over the past decade.
Doctors will repair the tendons that control his upper eyelids. According to doctors at Mass General Hospital, where the surgery will be performed, the procedure is common.
The mayor has canceled public appearances and will work from home over the next week.
The surgery should help the mayor to see better and will cause a slight change to his appearance; his eyes will open wider.
