BOSTON (CBS) – Eight-year-old Joey Ellison was at Monday night’s Red Sox-Tigers game thanks to the Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Joey and his Little League team arrived at Fenway early in the afternoon for a tour of the ballpark and a chance to meet Joey’s favorite player, Dustin Pedroia.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Bernice Corpuz reports
“He was really funny to me,” says Joey. “I said he was cool, I took a picture with him.”
The eight-year-old boy was born with a heart defect and is getting treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital.
On Monday, Joey enjoyed just simply being a kid at the ballpark thanks to the folks at Make A-Wish.
He says, “I was playing catch, I got an autograph from Dustin Pedroia and Cody Ross.”
Joey says he’s been waiting for this wish for a long time and his mother Joanne is grateful.
“Tears came to my eyes, it’s just been an unbelievable day,” she said.
A day that Joey and his Little League team will never forget.
