Twenty-year-old Andy Guzman of Lawrence and 19-year-old William Melchionda of Haverhill were rushed to Merrimack Valley Hospital, where they died.

"Two other victims were transported to a Boston hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries," Carrie Kimball-Monahan, a spokesperson for the Essex District Attorney, said in a statement Tuesday. "A suspect or suspects are still at large."

Police spent the night processing two separate crime scenes, one in the vicinity of 631 River Street and the other near the intersection of River and Revere Streets.

The suspects were described as two heavily tattooed men wearing masks.

The crime occurred at a commonly known "drug house."

"The neighborhood basically knows about the house, but nothing's ever been done," said Michelle Goebel, a neighbor.

Investigators, though, said there is no threat to the public.

"This shatters a quiet and safe city and a quiet and safe neighborhood. This is one of our nice neighborhoods," Haverhill Mayor James Fiorentini told reporters Tuesday.
