Teen Traveling 100 MPH In Stolen Car Killed In Methuen Crash

METHUEN (CBS) - A Lawrence teenager died early Tuesday morning when he crashed a stolen car in Methuen.

Police say the teenager was traveling about 100 mph on Riverside Drive right before he lost control, skidded into a utility pole, then slammed into a tree.

Witnesses reported another car traveling equally as fast. It's unclear what happened to that car.

Investigators have not identified the 17-year-old victim.

They say the car had been reported stolen out of Lowell.

Officers do not think that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Police say they were not chasing the driver.
