Tony Massarotti and Marc Bertrand opened the day discussing the Boston Red Sox and recent comments made by Sox designated hitter David Ortiz.

Before the game where David Ortiz hit his 400th career home run, Ortiz told a reporter from USA Today that the off-season arbitration negotiations were “embarrassing.” To avoid arbitration, Ortiz signed a one-year deal for $14.575 million.

Is David Ortiz’ unhappiness hurting the Sox? Did it hurt Ortiz to not test the free agent market?

Should the Sox keep signing Ortiz to one-year deals knowing they will get the best out of him? Would there be teams that would offer Ortiz a multi-year deal?

Is David Ortiz a Hall of Fame player?
