BOSTON (CBS) – There are many suitors for Celtics‘ free agent shooting guard Ray Allen, but according to a report, the Miami Heat and LA Clippers are ahead of the pack to land the three-point king if he doesn’t return to Boston.

ESPNNewYork.com’s Jared Zwerling is reporting a source close to Allen’s situation told him the Heat and Clippers are an attractive destination for the 36-year-old Allen due to the fact they could offer him more than the veteran minimum of $1.4 million.

While Allen would prefer to stay in Boston, he would have to take a back-up role behind Avery Bradley. He would have to do the same in Miami, taking a seat behind Dwayne Wade, but Los Angeles could offer him a starting job and the most money of the three teams.

The Clippers were one of the teams rumored to be interested in Allen at the trade deadline this season.

Allen is currently recovering from ankle surgery he underwent after the season ended. He played in 46 games (42 starts) for the Celtics in 2012, shooting 46-percent from the floor while averaging 14.2 points per game. In 18 playoff games, Allen averaged 10.7 points while shooting 34-percent from the floor.
