7 Correction Officers Taken To Hospital After Attack In Shirley

SHIRLEY (CBS) – Seven correction officers were taken to the hospital after a prisoner went on the attack.

A Department of Corrections spokesperson says an inmate assaulted an officer at the Souza Baranowski correctional center in Shirley. Two others jumped in to help and were also injured.

Another four officers were checked out as a precaution.

It’s not clear what kind of weapon was used.

The facility is now in lock-down while the DOC and State Police investigate.
