Report: Celtics Promise Iowa States Royce White At 21

BOSTON (CBS)  - According to ESPN's Chad Ford, the Boston Celtics already know who they'll take with the 21st pick in next week's NBA Draft.

According to Ford, should Iowa States Royce White fall to 21st, the Celtics will scoop up the athletic power forward.

Although at this point, it seems pretty difficult to predict just how the players will fall in next Thursday's draft.

The 6-8 White led Iowa State in points (13.4), rebounds (9.3), assists (5.0), steals (1.1) and blocks (.09) per game last season as a sophomore, the only player in the nation to lead his team in each of those categories. His seven-foot wingspan is very appealing, as is his ability to get into the open court and run the floor on the fast break.

However, White does come with some baggage. He transferred to Iowa State after being charged with theft at the University of Minnesota, twice, before even playing a game for his hometown Gophers. White also suffers anxiety disorders, controlled by medication, which could contribute to his falling in the draft.

But the question remains, will he actually fall to the Celtics at 21?

If the Celtics are able to get White with the 21st pick, he would be a nice potential backup to Kevin Garnett, should KG return and return to the power forward position.
