CHELSEA (CBS) – A 2-year-old girl was rushed to Mass General Hospital after falling at least 50 feet from a third-story window in Chelsea on Monday night.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Karen Twomey reports.
Witnesses said the girl was playing with some other children in their apartment on Washington Avenue. They were on the bed when the girl fell through the window screen.
“It’s a shame. I tried to tell them, even when they built it years ago, I looked at these screens and I said ‘That’s unsafe.’ It’s not safe,” said Ed, a neighbor.
The girl fell three stories, somewhere between 50 and 80 feet, to an alley below.
“It’s all dirt back there. She’s lucky it wasn’t cement. It broke her fall, believe it or not,” said Ed.
The girl suffered a broken rib.
The investigation is ongoing.
