ATTLEBORO (CBS) – An Attleboro company has been whacked with a $500 fine over a foul odor that had numerous neighbors complaining.
“It’s hard to describe, but it’s definitely a garbage-type smell, like a diaper,” neighbor Gay Barboza explained.
That odor was coming from a company called New Stream. They clean wastewater from other companies around New England.
Barboza says the smell was everywhere in her house.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Doug Cope reports
“It was so bad on Sunday morning that we really didn’t know where to go,” she said. “There was nowhere to go. Opening your windows made it worse because it was outside. Shutting your windows shut in the odor.”
The company president told WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Doug Cope that he didn’t know there was a problem until he heard neighbor complaints.
He says they’re committed to fixing the problem, and they want to be good neighbors.
