BOSTON (CBS) – The Phantom Gourmet Hot Dog Safari returns to Boston next weekend. Dan Andelman of the Phantom Gourmet gets your taste buds ready with some gourmet hot dogs.
At Wahlburgers in Hingham, the juicy, fresh-griddled burgers are the biggest draw. But Chef Paul Wahlberg says you shouldn’t ignore their gourmet steamed hot dogs, especially the so-called “Stray Dog.”
“We serve Sirracha which is a spicy sauce, brown mustard, and then a smoked tomato salsa that we make here,” Wahlberg told the Phantom Gourmet. “It’s kind of reminiscent of a Chicago-style dog, but with a little more heat. And it’s fantastic.”
The Fireplace in Brookline serves New England comfort foods with an upscale twist, including a jumbo grilled pearl hot dog that’s fully loaded with toppings, and served with Boston baked beans and fresh-cut fries.
Dave’s Diner in Middleboro tops this frankly ridiculous dish with bacon, lettuce, and tomato.
And if you love hot dogs, sausages, and family fun, the Hot Dog Safari is next Saturday on Lansdowne Street next to Fenway Park, benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
For more food and fun, watch the Phantom Gourmet every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on myTV 38.
