NH Woman Can't Rid Her Home Of Stubborn Coyote

PORTSMOUTH, NH (CBS) - A New Hampshire woman says she's concerned for her safety after a coyote moved in under her mobile home and he won't leave.

Jane Allen has done just about everything she can think of to get rid of it, but nothing has worked.

No matter what Allen has tried, the animal keeps finding ways to get underneath her mobile home.

The animal first set up camp in the opening she left for her cat. After she blocked it and took the food away, the coyote started pushing through the panels.

"The insulation's all pulled out there and everything… He's just made a mess," she said.

Jane has put these cinder blocks alongside her house. but the coyote chewed right through the lattice.

Wildlife officials gave her a motion sensor noise maker. Jane says it scares the heck out of her, but it hasn't done anything to get rid of the coyote.

Jane says the animal has left her scared in her own home.

"I laugh about it, but it's not funny," she said. "I don't want to go out at night."

New Hampshire's coyote specialist tells us he's never heard of a coyote living under someone's home. He suggests Jane may need a professional to get rid of it.

Jane is on a fixed income and can't afford a professional.

The government's wildlife service is on the case and she hopes they can help.
