Montel Harris Dismissed From Boston College Football Team

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston College's all-time leading rusher Montel Harris won't get a chance to add to his school record next season.

The senior running back has been dismissed from the BC football team due to a repeated violation of team rules, Coach Frank Spaziani announced on Tuesday.

"Montel Harris has been permanently dismissed from our football team due to a repeated violation of team rules," Spaziani said in a release. "We are grateful for his contributions the past four seasons and will support him in completing his degree requirements and in his future pursuits."

Harris became Boston College's all-time leading rusher with 3,735 yards last year, but missed the majority of the season with a knee injury. He scored 27 touchdowns during his time at the Heights, taking home the ACC's rushing title in 2010 which earned him ACC preseason Player of the Year honors last season.

Harris had received a medical waiver from the NCAA to return to BC for the 2012 season.
