Patriots Select Alfonzo Dennard With Pick No. 224 Of NFL Draft

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots selected Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL draft with the 224th pick.

Dennard was arrested last week on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound defensive back was on last year's All-Big Ten First Team, despite having only four interceptions in his entire college career.

The pick was acquired by New England in a trade earlier in the day with Green Bay. The Patriots sent pick No. 163 to the Packers in exchange for picks No. 197, 224 and 235.

The pick was the Patriots' sixth of the draft, all of which have been used on defensive players.
