Change Of Heart? Francona To Attend Fenway 100

BOSTON (CBS) - It turns out former Red Sox manager Terry Francona will be at Fenway Park's big birthday bash on Friday after all.

Francona told ESPN, his new employer,  he believes he owes it to the fans to show up for Fenway's 100th Birthday celebration on Friday, despite the way things ended last season.

The Red Sox and Francona parted ways after eight seasons following the team's historic collapse in 2011. Although it was touted as a mutual break-up, Francona was not pleased with an article in the Boston Globe following his departure, which cited unnamed team sources as saying Francona's performance might have been affected by his troubled marriage and use of pain medication.

"I'm sure they'll have a great event and I was part of a lot of that stuff there, but I just can't go back there and start hugging people and stuff without feeling a little bit hypocritical," Francona told the Globe's Dan Shaugnessy last week, stating he would not attend the celebration.

But now Tito, and his two World Series rings, will be back at Fenway on Friday.
