Red Sox Assign Pitchers Cook, Ohlendorf To Pawtucket

BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox assigned pitchers Aaron Cook and Ross Ohlendorf to Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.

Cook was an early candidate for one of the final two spots in the rotation, and opened some eyes with an impressive spring. The 33-year-old righty went 1-0 with a 1.88 ERA over 14.2 innings pitched this spring, picking up the win in the Red Sox' final game at JetBlue Park.

Cook signed a minor league contract with Boston in the offseason and could opt out if he is not on the 25-man roster by May 1. If he is recalled to Boston, Cook will receive a prorated salary of $1.5 million.
