Celtics' Jermaine O'Neal Undergoes Successful Wrist Surgery

BOSTON (CBS)  - Boston Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist, the team announced Frirday.

The surgery was performed by Celtics Team Physician Dr. Brian McKeon and Dr. Drew Terrono at New England Baptist Hospital.

O'Neal played in 25 games for the Celtics this season, averaging five points and 5.4 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game. In total, he played in just 49 games in two seasons with the Celtics after signing a two-year, $12 million contract prior to last season.

This is the fifth time in the past six seasons that O'Neal played in 42 games or fewer.

O'Neal will be a free-agent after this season.
