Yarmouth Sex Offender Held Without Bail In Reported Baseball Bat Attack

YARMOUTH (CBS) - A Yarmouth man is being held without bail over a violent confrontation that reportedly involved a baseball bat.

According to the Cape Cod Times, police say 50-year-old John Looney, a level three sex offender, beat the 69-year-old victim with a baseball bat.

Emergency responders found the victim lying on the sidewalk bleeding from head injuries.

He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and eventually moved to a Boston Hospital.

Yarmouth police say the man is in serious condition.

A woman was also treated for minor injuries.

Looney was arrested after he showed up at the hospital for treatment. He is being charged with two counts of assault and battery while armed with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder.
