Brian Hoyer Signs Tender To Remain With Patriots

BOSTON (CBS) -- Tom Brady's backup quarterback isn't going anywhere.

Brian Hoyer signed his free-agent tender to remain with the Patriots, according to several reports on Friday. The news was originally reported by Adam Caplan.

The Patriots had placed a second-round tender on Hoyer, which means he'll make $1.9 million in 2012. If another team were to try to sign Hoyer, the Patriots would have had the opportunity to match the offer. If the Patriots had elected to not match that offer, they would have received a second-round draft pick in return.

Hoyer, 26, threw just one pass last year, a 22-yard connection with Rob Gronkowski that gave the tight end the most receiving yards at his position in NFL history. In his three-year career, Hoyer is 27-for-43 (62.8 percent) for 286 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Many of those stats were tallied in 2010 against the Dolphins, when Hoyer went 7-for-13 for 122 yards in a touchdown in Week 17.
