Bourne Guidance Counselor On Paid Leave Due To "Inappropriate Conduct"

BOURNE (CBS) - A guidance counselor at Bourne High School was placed on paid administrative leave earlier this month due to alleged "inappropriate conduct."

School officials said they alerted authorities after they received the complaints against Edward McCarthy. He was placed on leave as of March 14.

The school said no other details will be released while police are investigating.

"As always, the health and safety of Bourne students and staff remain our top priority. We take all allegations of misconduct very seriously and acted swiftly and thoroughly in compliance with School Committee policy and state and local laws," said Superintendent Steven Lamarche, in a statement.
