BOSTON (CBS) – A new partnership has formed between Boston based New Balance and Playworks. The New Balance Foundation is investing $1.2 million over the next couple years to help the program succeed at an even higher level.
Playworks, a non-profit group, has helped 130,000 low income kids over the past 15 years in over 23 different cities. They provide full-time, trained coaches to urban schools to allow for positive relationships to cultivate.
The coaches organize games and activities during recess hours and run leadership programs throughout the school day. They become a part of the community through tutoring, physical activities and developing wholesome relationships with these students.
Clearly, the ones who benefit from the new partnership are the students and they deserve the additional attention!
