Phantom Gourmet: Arancini

BOSTON (CBS) - A Sicilian recipe that dates back hundreds of years has suddenly become a trendy dish at restaurants.

Dan Andelman of the Phantom Gourmet gives us a taste of the area's best arancini.

At Santoro's Sicilian Trattoria in Dedham, everything is big, from the cheese-smothered garlic bread to the thick-as-a-brick lasagna, to the arancini the size of a softball.

Four Square Restaurant in Braintree is a neighborhood spot known for straight-forward dishes like meatloaf, mac and cheese, and bread pudding. But one of the most popular items is the Italian arancini.

Da Vinci on Columbus Ave in Park Square makes a more upscale arancini, with a crispy light exterior stuffed with creamy risotto and hand-made mozzarella cheese.

Some other Phantom favorites for arancini include Stella in the South End and La Morra in Brookline Village.
