Washburn With Toucher & Rich: Have Celtics Thrown In The Towel?

The Celtics snapped a five-game losing streak Tuesday night with an 86-83 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Green were unable to hold on to a 16-point lead in the first quarter and eventually were down by five in the third.

Fortunately for the C's they were able to make enough plays to pull ahead to avoid racking up a sixth loss in a row.

Gary Washburn spoke with Toucher & Rich about what the Celtics could do to get better and Rajon Rondo.

With the way this Celtics team has been playing some fans have said that there is no way that this team can make a run for a championship. Does the Celtics front office have the same view as these fans?

"I haven't heard that they have thrown in the towel and that they're just looking to move anybody, but they are looking to move someone if they can get pieces that will help them build for the future."

There have been talk that the Celtics would be interested in Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley, who will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Would he be a piece that the Celtics bring in and what would they have to give up to get him to Boston?

"You could get him this summer without sacrificing anything and what's Minnesota going to want in return for Michael Beasley, they aren't going to win a title either. So are you gonna give them Paul Pierce? The Timberwolves aren't going to want an old guy. I just think you wait till the summer."

The guys moved on to discuss the Celtics and how they have done in free agency over the years. Rich argued that it always seems like no free agents ever want to come and play in Boston. Who could the Celtics possibly get if they wait till after the season ends?

Another rumor that's out there is that the Dallas Mavericks are looking to move Shawn Marion and many say the Celtics could get him for Kevin Garnett. Would Marion be a good piece for the Celtics and is there any chance of this deal actually happening?

Also is Rajon Rondo still a name that's out there for possible trades?
