Car Sales Up In Massachusetts

By Lisa van der Pool, Boston Business Journal

BOSTON (CBS) – New car sales in Massachusetts rose nearly eight percent in 2011, thanks in large part to light truck sales, according to data obtained from Polk this week.

It was definitely an uneven ride for Massachusetts car sales, 2011 saw a good start, the summer was down and then sales picked up again in November and December.

In total there were close to 260,000 new cars sold in the state last year.

But what really helped boost that number was light truck sales. Light trucks outsold cars by a few hundred.

Japanese cars are the most popular with Massachusetts drivers.

The Honda Accord was the third best selling car in the state last year.

The Toyota Camry was second and the most popular vehicle last year was the Honda CR-V, a compact SUV, with more than 10,000 models sold in 2011.

don’t blame gm for saab, they dropped saab 2 years or so ago.its there falt saab can’t make cars worth buying around the world.gm should have dumped saab 10 pluss years age.l’m sorry saab’s are expensive and a nightmare to maintain ,look at the old 900,the engine is is in backwards with the clutch up front by the radiator .and who else puts the ignition between the seats, spill a drink their, call the tow truck .if you st ill want a saab, buy a malibu it uses the same chassis, but its refined.

l never liked the srx,the old one or the new one.for alittle more the cadillac cts v wagon is rocket ship and is one of the most unique vehicles on the road.however gm no longer makes big car,ie deville eldorado etc.the pilot isn’t bad,for a mini van.l wish some one would make actual sport utility vehicle ,i emphasis the word utility.a small body on a ladder type fram truck based suv.that can pull a 4000lbs + trailer plow snow ( wherever the snow is )and go off roading.accept for the jeep wrangler, everyone else makes front diver based mini vans. i agree with you on opel and voxholl.but i would love a holden ute here, aka el comino..

That was an eeclelxnt question, perhaps poorly phrased, but nevertheless, the content was extremely important. I am a conservative because I want this country to provide for my children (now ages 4 and 2) the blessings of opportunity and freedom that it has provided for me and my parents before me. I hope Gingrich took the time to actually answer the question, because the part of his response that I heard in the audio was dismissive and arrogant.A day or so ago Romney had an exchange with an Occupy protester. The question he asked was respectful and intelligent, and Romney answered in a way that was also respectful and intelligent (and correct). Young people are the future of the country. We should take the time to productively educate and inform them so they are not left to the flawed information of the liberal dominated college education.
