February Makes Its Debut

What a way to make an entrance! We are in the midst of Winter on this February day, and high temperatures are aiming for the 50s!   Average highs are now on the uphill swing.  Mid-January provides the coldest average low temperatures (~36F) throughout the year. An average high today would be ~37F.  Speaking of January, it turned out to be 5.1F above average, and it was the 7th straight month of above average temperatures.

Today, that mild trend continues.  We are headed for the lower and middle 50s this afternoon.  That being said, we will have mostly cloudy skies with a few showers as a cold front is 'waltzing' to our east.  We need to watch for spot showers this morning near Southern NH where overnight temps have been below freezing. This could result in pockets of light freezing rain. However, this is not likely since we don't expect the moisture to get here until later this morning.  By the time you are driving home from work, you'll be greeted by brighter skies.

Thursday will be a colder day with highs returning to the lower 40s. The sun will be shining!  There's a slim chance of a few coastal flurries and snow showers in the evening, especially for the Cape/Islands.

Friday will be mostly sunny but even colder as high temperatures will be in the 35-40F range.

Superbowl weekend will come in and go out on a quiet note.  Saturday and Sunday will be on the cold side though as highs hover in the middle 30s. Saturday will be mostly sunny. Superbowl Sunday will be a bright day with models showing a strong enough high pressure system to suppress a storm system to our south. *For kickoff on Superbowl Sunday in Indianapolis (although it's a dome), skies will be partly cloudy and temps will be near 40F.
