Middleboro Man Allegedly Rams 2 Cars In Case Of Road Rage

MIDDLEBORO (CBS) - In what appears to be an outrageous case of road rage, a 59-year-old Middleboro man has been charged with two counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, after allegedly ramming two vehicles.

John Melville ordered WBZ's camera crew off his property Wednesday, after an expletive-laced tirade, claiming he wasn't responsible.

Police say it was about 5 p.m. Tuesday, when Linda Brennan was driving on a rural road in South Middleboro, when she was suddenly rammed from behind by a pickup truck, allegedly operated by Melville.

WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports

The truck forced Brennan's car off the road, and continued on. "I couldn't believe it, " said Brennan. She had purchased her car just two weeks ago. It is now a total loss.

Minutes later, police say Melville came upon a car driven by Kevin Kivi of Carver. Melville allegedly rear-ended his car."I locked up my brakes, trying to stop, but he kept pushing me," said Kivi.

Both Kivi and Brennan saw the registration on the truck and a short time later, police found Melville at his Middleboro home.

"He admitted to being on the road," says officer A.J. Lapanna. "His vehicle was damaged consistent with striking two vehicles, paint transfer that type of thing."
