Anthrax Scare Forces Evacuation At Boston’s Israeli Consulate

BOSTON (CBS) – The Israeli Consulate at Park Plaza in Boston was evacuated Monday after receiving a suspicious package.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Kim Tunnicliffe reports.

The package, which was addressed to the Consulate, included writing indicating it contained anthrax.

Dist. Fire Chief Steve Dunbar said there was some kind of white powder inside the envelope.

“The initial reports were that there was some white powder,” said Dunbar. “They felt the envelope and the particles of grain, so they wisely decided to isolate it into their specialized containment vessel, and that was a smart move on their behalf.”

The mail carrier and the consulate were decontaminated as a precaution.
