Police: Iraq War Veteran 'Was Ready For World War III'

TAUNTON (CBS) - An Iraq war veteran is facing charges after ATF agents found an arsenal of weapons, ammunition, and bomb-making materials in his apartment in Taunton.

Twenty-eight-year-old Devin Tellier of Taunton was arrested after police say his girlfriend tipped them off about an arsenal he had been stockpiling.

Agents say they seized 7 guns, pipe bombs, kevlar vests, and instruction manuals on bomb-making.

"It was like he was ready for World War III," said one police officer.

WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports

Police say Tellier was an Iraq war veteran, and was wounded in action.

He had been living at the same address for two years. Tellier's landlord said news of the charges comes as a shock.

"He was a quiet guy, but sociable; and very helpful around here," says Kendall Perry. "He even helped out people in the neighborhood, shoveling their driveways and such.

A neighbor says he was a nice guy, but recently had friends over whom he had described as "mercenaries."
